James York is vice-president of insurance and growth at innovation hub The49, as well as chairman at regulatory support business Innovative Risk London (IRL).
York has spent his entire career in insurance and is a passionate advocate and thought leader for the sector. Over the past decade, he has immersed himself in the insurtech venture world, from fundraising to exit.
He now leads the UK insurance and growth strategy for The49 – a multidisciplinary agency that currently partners with major US carriers on special projects. He is co-convenor for the pro bono Insurer of State project, co-founded Insurtech UK and serves as executive chairman at IRL, a leading regulatory network for insurtech ventures.
