Direct insurer Club Direct is moving in on the booming gap year travel market with the offer of a ten per cent discount on all backpackers policies purchased in September.
The company has realised that sales of long-term travel policies are increasing as more students opt to take a year out between school and university or further education.
Managing Director Brent Escott believes this year's sales are running at four times the level of previous years.
Club Direct's policies cater for gap year students by incorporating cover for work undertaken abroad. Similarly, high risk sports that may not have been planned at the trip's outset – such as bungee jumping or white water rafting – are also automatically covered.
The standard Discovery Gold policy provides all-round cover, whilst the Discovery Silver economy version is aimed at customers who do not place such high priority or value on baggage.
