Groupama Commercial Insurances has created an Employer Liability Claims Unit to cope with the rising culture of compensation.
Groupama commercial claims head Mick Booth said employer liability law had gone through enourmous change, while employees had become more litigous.
“The Woolf reforms, the introduction of conditional fees and increase in pain and suffering awards have changed this market beyond recognition,” Booth said.
“We live in a society were employees are encouraged to work harder and for longer hours than previous generations and, as a result, employers are facing a whole new range of stress-related claims.”
The new unit will be run by Elaine Foster with claims controllers David Worsley and Darren Pemberton. Booth said it would offer policyholders focused expertise to deal with claims swiftly.
