Reinsurance broker Cooper Gay Group has created a North American Treaty Division and named two senior executives to run the operation.

Nick Newman and Judith Benson have joined the broker as executive vice president and senior vice president respectively, to manage the new business from its North American headquarters based in New York.

Cooper Gay has a long-standing reputation as a provider of worldwide facultative and international property treaty capacity.

The two new executives will bolster the company's entrance into the domestic treaty market in North America, complementing the Cooper Gay Group's existing property and casualty treaty divisions based in London.

Toby Esser, Cooper Gay's chief executive, said of the appointments: "Both Nick and Judith enjoy a widespread and commanding reputation in the domestic treaty marketplace."
