Cox has wrapped up its buy-out of Brokersoft, the broker system provider that stopped trading in early April.

Cox Insurance retail chief executive Neil Utley said: "Brokersoft is now a part of the business and we're working on plans of how best to link it, and push it forward, with Brokersure."

Brokersure is Cox's online trading system for brokers. It is thought that Brokersoft will provide Brokersure with a more comprehensive quotation engine and an off-line back office administration system.

Utley added: "It [Brokersoft] will be a much more significant system when we integrate the benefits of both systems."

Cox gained 65 broker system clients in the deal, as well as Brokersoft's

15 employees, including founder Gary Weatherill.

Richard Mikula, managing director of Topaz, a broker that uses Brokersoft, said: "I think all the brokers who used Brokersoft in the past are quite relieved that they don't have to replace their systems at vast expense ... hopefully they [Cox] can develop it further and push it along."
