Legal expenses insurer DAS has transferred its business in the Channel Islands to its wholly-owned subsidiary MLP Legal Protection.
The handover took effect on April 1, with MLP assuming responsibility for DAS's relationships with up to 20 client brokers on the islands.
Brokers selling DAS products will be offered MLP equivalents on renewal. MLP will deal with claims for both insurers.
John Breen, MLP Channel Islands sales manager, said the move confirms DAS's pledge to maintain MLP's separate identity.
He added that the consolidation provides MLP with further opportunities to diversify from its traditional motor legal business.
Ray Kneeshaw, sales and marketing manager for DAS, said: "MLP's manual claims service is more geared to dealing with the differences in Channel Islands' business, which has a different legal system."
