Over at AIG, the new spirit of parsimony continues. As Insurance Times revealed a few weeks ago, the insurance giant cancelled its Christmas revels after the US government – its de facto owner – criticised taxpayer-financed corporate jollies.

As if that weren’t enough of a blow for staff left wondering how they are supposed to corner their office crush under the mistletoe, another social gathering has fallen foul of the cost cutters. Backchat hears that AIG cancelled its tables at the Leicester Chartered Insurance Institute’s annual dinner last week. Where will it end?

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
