Direct Line has launched its distinctive red phone brand in Germany today. It plans to challenge traditional motor insurers by offering premiums at 12% below the market average.

Following its launch in Italy last month, this is another step towards making the red phone an internationally-recognised brand.

Managing Director of Direct Line Germany Philip Etchells said: "The strength of the Direct Line brand makes it exceptionally well placed to challenge traditional players whose products are more expensive and who do not have the customer service ethos of Direct Line."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
