?Backchat has learned of the shocking statistic that 2.3 million drivers have admitted falling asleep at the wheel. And apparently, opening the window or listening to the radio won’t help them wake up.

Thankfully, only 96 fatal crashes a year are attributed to sleepy drivers…which begs the question, what on earth happens to the other millions of potential smashes?

Are we a nation of talented sleep-drivers, able to dodge oncoming traffic while we dream of Keira Knightley (or Heath Ledger, ladies)?

Perhaps policy forms should contain a compulsory question: “Can you safely control a car while asleep – yes or no?”
