Brierley will be responsible for developing country specific general insurance strategies

Ecclesiastical has hired Nick Brierley as its general insurance business and operations director within its group general insurance business operations, in a newly created role.

He will be responsible for consulting with and developing country specific general insurance strategies in conjunction with the relevant chief executives.

He will also work on developing Ecclesiastical’s longer-term general insurance business strategy and will report to deputy group chief executive and UK managing director Jacinta Whyte.

The appointment marks a return to Ecclesiastical for Brierley, who left the insurer in 2012, to join Legal and General.

Whyte said: “Nick’s significant strategy, finance and general insurance knowledge in addition to his experience of Ecclesiastical’s general insurance businesses, group-wide, will benefit our country chief executives to successfully deliver on their goals and our general insurance businesses plans of becoming the most trusted specialist insurer in our sectors, contributing positively to our £50m charity goal.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
