Underwriters got cold feet at the International Science Festival in Edinburgh at the weekend.
Organiser Dr Simon Gage was unable to find an insurer to cover the public coal-walking stunt he had planned, despite having got cover at previous events.
Gage said he tried several insurers to no avail, which meant the coal-walking went ahead as a demonstration only.
