‘His extensive knowledge, expertise and commitment to service gives us an excellent foundation to build out our transactional risks proposition,’ says group managing director
Amiga Specialty has appointed Richard Mills as managing director of transactional risks for the UK and Europe, effective immediately.
Based in London, Mills will be responsible for establishing Amiga’s transactional risks business line, overseeing strategic positioning and distribution.
He will also work with insurance carrier partners to deliver what the MGA described as a “best-in-class” proposition. He will report to group managing director Adam Kembrooke.
Kembrooke said: “I am delighted to have someone of Mills’ calibre joining us and his appointment sets the stage for our successful entrance into the transactional space.
”His extensive knowledge, expertise, commitment to service and an impressive track record of building successful teams and books of business that deliver meaningful value for partners gives us an excellent foundation to build out our transactional risks proposition.”
Background
Mills began his insurance career at Capital Risks in 2018, before moving to Nexus Underwriting, where he was most recently transactional risks director.

Before entering the insurance sector, he worked in several legal roles at firms including Proskauer Rose and Linklaters.
Commenting on his appointment, Mills said: “I am thrilled to be joining Amiga Specialty at such an exciting time in its development and can’t wait to start building the transactional risks team with talented professionals. In my career, I’ve been hugely proud to realise the untapped potential of many underwriters and I am excited to have the opportunity to do that again in a collaborative, service-led environment.”
Amiga Specialty was founded in June 2025 and is financially backed by BP Marsh. The independent MGA specialises in underwriting specialty lines for blue-chip clients.
