Eversheds' legal systems group has won a three-year contract to handle the ongoing and historic claims portfolio of UK COAL, Britain's largest coal mining company.
Eversheds said a dedicated claims management team will now be created in its Nottingham office to handle the work, with operational responsibility and support in Cardiff.
Cardiff-based director of claims, Shaun Slack, said: “[The portfolio] will focus on both accident and industrial disease claims. Eversheds' proven track record in both areas shows that we have the resource available to handle some 8,000 ongoing cases."
