Kevin Sinclair rejects numerous offers in favour of fledgling agency

Former AA managing director Kevin Sinclair is to return to the insurance industry as managing director of underwriting agency start-up iprism.

Sinclair has been on gardening leave since he quit his role as the head of the AA’s insurance division in September following the company’s £6bn merger with Saga.

iprism chief executive Gary Burke said Sinclair’s appointment would fuel the company’s ambitious growth plans that include several forthcoming major deals and panel expansion.

Despite some surprise at Sinclair’s decision to join the company, Burke said Sinclair was a logical fit given his background as an underwriter with AXA and his experience managing service centres and insurance panels at the AA.

Sinclair, who will take up his role in 1 April, said: “My time at AA was invaluable and gave me a real taste for working in a highly entrepreneurial environment. This was something I was keen to continue into my next role and iprism offered the perfect opportunity to do just that.”

iprism currently has 10 SME insurers on its panel but Burke said that will grow to 15 this year.

He added: “We have secured a lot of distribution and there are three major deals in the pipeline.”
