Nick Prettejohn to join Lloyd's insurer's board

Private equity consortium Achilles has nominated Nick Prettejohn, a former chief executive of Lloyd's, as the new chairman of Lloyd's insurer Brit.

Prettejohn was widely tipped to be in the running for the chairman's job at Brit. He was chief executive of Lloyd's between 1999 and 2005, having first joined the corporation in 1995. After leaving Lloyd's he became chief executive of UK insurer Prudential. He is currently a non-executive director of Legal & General.

Achilles, a joint venture of private equity companies Apollo and CVC Capital Partners, is in the process of buying Brit, and currently has acceptance of around 72% of Brit's shareholders for the transaction.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
