Morgan Price International Healthcare (MPIH) believe they have filled a gap in the expatriate health market with the launch of their new product, Expat Medi-Cash Plan.

The policy is designed either to complement existing expatriate medical insurance where cover is restrictive, or to act as a stand-alone replacement where local medical treatment is of a high enough standard to make traditional cover uneconomical.

MPIH claim it is the market's first truly international cash plan, available only to expatriates.

The cover has been designed in two modules. The first is a standard base product that provides six out-patient benefits, including optical and routine dental, and the second is an optional extension that provides a further four in-patient benefits.

Expat Medi-Cash plan offers three levels of cover. Prices start from around £92 per annum (£1.80 per week) for level 1 standard cover, and rise to £345 per annum (£6.60 per week) for level 3 standard with options.

One barrier to introducing such a low-cost plan internationally is the associated administration cost. However, MPIH believe they have cracked that problem by choosing to administer the plan via the internet. Customers can sign up and pay either online or by phone. Once approved, the policy schedule will be emailed to the client or to the intermediary for onward distribution in the country of residence.
