Information solutions provider Experian has released a new anti-insurance fraud system into the UK insurance market.
Hunter II, developed by Experian's specialist fraud prevention business MCL Software, will enable users to share data on fraudsters across different product types and industry sectors, said the company.
It claimed the incidence and impact of fraud on its victims, both corporate and individual, would be greatly reduced through the system.
New additions to the Hunter system include a death register, enabling fraudsters using the identification of a deceased person to be identified, said Experian.
The internet-based hunter system is already established in the UK, Australia and South Africa, with Hunter II set to be rolled out globally, said the company.
Hunter II automatically checks new applications and claims against previous applications or claims, suspect information and extensive fraud databases.
Experian said this ensures that previously fraudulent, suspect, declined or multiple applications can be identified, along with any adverse or previous address information that an applicant may be deliberately hiding so that adverse information at the missing address would not be connected to that applicant.
The use of an alias or false names, false employment details and impersonation can also be matched and highlighted through the Hunter II system, added the company.
