Midlands and Anglian regions still under threat

A day of torrential rain across the UK passed off without major incident but insurers remained on alert as 27 flood warning remained in place this morning (11 November 2008).

The Met Office said the worst was over and expected no significant rainfall for the rest of the week. Loch Glascarnoch in Scotland topped the rainfall table yesterday with more than 53mm falling during the day.

The area around Tewskesbury, Evesham and Worcester faces the most warning with flood warnings in place for several stretches of the Avon and Severn. The Anglian region also had several flood warnings, such as those covering the Great Ouse from Brackley to Thornborough and at Bromham. Newport Pagnell is also on alert.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
