Manjit Rana has received an accolade for voluntary contributions to his local community.

Rana, director of mortgage and general insurance solutions at Focus Business Solutions, received the top Young People Award at the Championing Change Awards 2006 for his work with career-related events at the University of Nottingham.

The university's Peter Kay paid tribute to Rana's "input, energy and enthusiasm".

Rana said he was "surprised and humbled" at winning the award. He added: "I give my time because it's a way of putting something back into the community and encouraging more start-ups and innovation in the East Midlands region."

Richard Stevenson, chief executive of Focus, commented: "We are extremely proud of Manjit winning this prestigious award and on behalf of everyone at Focus congratulate him on his success. It's great to see experienced business people like Manjit reinvesting their knowledge back into the community to grow and support new businesses."

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
