Peter James, the executive chairman of Footman James, has decided to leave the West Midlands-based broker.

James founded the business in 1983 and since then has overseen its growth in the specialist vehicle insurance sector.

James said he will now move on to concentrate on a number of other business interests.

James said: "It has been an absolute pleasure to have developed successful partnerships across the insurance industry with Footman James over the past 20 years.

"I now feel that the time is right to move on from Footman James and focus on my other business interests, which I have established over the last few years.

"It is gratifying to leave Footman James as an extremely strong top 50 broker as part of the Open + Direct Group."
