Palmer to build on investment in firm

Business deal work handshake people

Ink Insurance has appointed Julian Palmer as commercial director.

Palmer had most recently been working as a consultant developing sales capability for niche wholesale and retail brokers.

He has more than 35 years’ experience in underwriting, including eight years at Towergate, where as sales development consultant he was responsible for volume commercial and personal insurance sales development in the broking business.

Prior to that, he held senior roles at Duncan Pocock, Bank of Ireland Mortgages and Preferred Direct Insurance Company.

Managing director underwriting and wholesale Bernard Mageean said: “Julian’s pedigree in the sector is outstanding. He has worked in senior roles in a variety of leading insurers and will add invaluable experience to the Ink management team. He joins us at an exciting time where significant investment has been made in the business and the management team has ambitious plans for the future. Julian’s role will be to help successfully realise these plans.”

Palmer said: “Working as a consultant, I saw from the outside that Ink is writing a significant amount of business and brokers not using the company were potentially missing out. I believe that the company has hit on a winning formula; the people and products at Ink mean that there is huge potential to continue to grow.”

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
