New insurance partnership to deliver fully branded motor and household products

Fortis UK and American Express have agreed a new five-year strategic partnership to deliver motor and household insurance products to American Express’ UK customer base.

As part of the agreement, companies across Fortis will also accept the American Express card.

The partnership will be managed through Fortis’ customer sales and service administration centre in Stoke-on-Trent.

Andy Watson, managing director of retail for Fortis UK said: “This new partnership complements our multi-channel distribution strategy at a very exciting time for Fortis after securing a number of significant new affinity deals during 2009.

"The strength of the American Express brand reinforces our capability in the motor and household insurance markets. I look forward to working with American Express to further enhance our propositions for their customers.”

Chris Rolland, chief executive American Express Insurance Services Europe added: “We see developing our insurance offering as a way to add value to the relationships we already have with our card members.

"Fortis showed us they understood the profile and needs of our card members and have tailored the right product and service proposition.”
