Former Zurich motor manager to drive portfolio growth

Fortis has appointed Ron Munro as Underwriting Development Manager.

Munro, who will report to Fortis’ Director of Underwriting, Adam Clarke will be responsible for developing new commercial and personal lines motor products. He joins from Zurich, where he was Motor Manager, UKGI underwriting, a position that he held for the last six years. He has worked in the sector for almost three decades.

On joining Fortis earlier this year, Munro became a non-executive director on the Thatcham Board, the industry funded association working to carry out research targeted at containing or reducing the cost of motor insurance claims, whilst maintaining safety standards.

Munro said: “The insurance industry is facing a number of challenges at the moment and I am delighted to be joining such a dynamic team at this time. Fortis is recognised as delivering innovative products that are supported by an extremely high standard of customer service, and is well respected in the industry for its ongoing ability and commitment to underwriting for profit.”

Clarke added: “ Ron has a vast knowledge of the insurance industry that will further develop Fortis’ commercial repertoire. Ron’s previous experience dealing with issues affecting the motor industry will enhance our offering to partners and brokers, and in turn their customers.

"Ron’s position within the company and presence on the Thatcham board puts Fortis in a great position for the continuous development of our commercial strategy.”
