Fortis chief executive Barry Smith will present a session covering the ever changing world of motor insurance at this year's Biba conference.

Smith, who is also chairman of the ABI motor committee, will take a look at some of the main issues from the Biba motor panel including changes to business models, the comparison sites phenomenon and the threats and opportunities they bring, and how brokers can become involved in these and in internet trading.

Other major issues include the forthcoming arrival of new rules for the electronic delivery of motor insurance certificates and the all important continuous insurance enforcement initiative – putting uninsured driving and the motor insurance database in the spotlight. The arguments for and against the move to the MID as the only “proof of Insurance” will also be raised.

Smith will also look at road safety and the impact on young drivers, how the industry can help older drivers seek cover, and regulatory changes emanating from Europe.
