‘Property salvage strategies are not consistent across the industry, so this is an opportunity for us to lead the way and enable our customers to act more sustainably,’ says chief claims officer
Allianz has partnered with waste reduction and salvage resale firm Evoque Group to launch a new sustainable property salvage initiative.
Evoque Group specialise in “zero-to-landfill” waste management, including recycling, repurposing, salvage resale and environmentally responsible disposal.
The deal will see the firm identify items that can be salvaged, repurposed, or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
Allianz said this would help create more sustainable claims journeys. The insurer added that the salvage value of any items – minus costs and fees – would be credited back to a claim, reducing the overall cost.
Sustainability focus
In 2024, Evoque Group reported that they had diverted 3.3 million kilograms of waste away from landfills, equating to a carbon dioxide emission reduction of 7,500 metric tons.

The salvage firm will work with Allianz’s commercial property claims team, headed by chief claims officer Matt Cox.
Cox said: “Allianz puts a great emphasis on working sustainably and I’m excited that we can add our partnership with Evoque to the work we’ve been doing across claims as part of our sustainability focus.
“Property salvage strategies are not consistent across the industry, so this is an opportunity for us to lead the way and enable our customers to act more sustainably too. While we are currently launching the partnership in commercial property, we are hoping that we can extend to other parts of claims in the future.”
James Whittock, business development director at Evoque, added: “Our zero-to-landfill strategy supports Allianz sustainability goals whilst delivering practical, innovative solutions that benefit the environment and the wider community.
“Working with an insurer of Allianz’s calibre aligns with Evoque’s strategic goals to be the leading zero-to-landfill solution in the insurance market and we’re excited about working together and taking this initiative forward.”
