Allianz UK has appointed Glyn Hughes as the new managing director of Allianz Personal Broker.
Hughes will start his new role in February 2026, joining the UK personal lines leadership team and reporting to Serge Raffard, managing director of Allianz’s personal lines business.
He will join from Ageas, where he is currently director of personal lines underwriting and pricing, and succeed Nicola George, who is leaving the business in October 2025.
Graham Wright will continue to lead the personal broker team on an interim basis ahead of Hughes joining.

Experience
In his current role at Ageas, Hughes oversees the growth of the personal lines portfolio, leading a team of underwriting and pricing professionals.

He first joined the insurer in 2013 in motor underwriting before becoming head of motor pricing and underwriting support and director of motor underwriting.
Before this, Hughes worked at Groupama in 2005 in the personal lines pricing team, culminating in his appointment as the head of personal lines pricing and planning.
Hughes said: “I am delighted to be joining Allianz. I am hugely impressed by the company and their ambitious growth plans and looking forward to leading the personal broker business.”

His career began in 2019, when he joined a local north London newspaper after graduating from the University of Sheffield with a first-class honours degree in journalism.
He took up the position of deputy news editor at Insurance Times in March 2023, before being promoted to his current role in May 2024.View full Profile
