Insurance Times rounds up the most significant appointments, hires and leadership developments from 24 to 28 August 2026

Among this week’s biggest people moves was Allianz Commercial appointing industry veteran Emma Woolley as its new president of global specialty and UK region.

Joining from her position as chief executive at Talbot Underwriting, Woolley will join Allianz once her current professional commitments have ceased, no later than February 2027.

Then, Aon appointed Piers Johansen to lead its UK M&A and transaction solutions (AMATS) business.

Based in London, he will report to Michael Carr, chief executive of AMATS for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Emea).

Further broker people moves included Lockton appointing Louise Piper as placement director within its major accounts business as it continues to invest in senior client leadership roles.

Moving from her role as Gallagher’s head of strategic client management, Piper will join the broker on 1 September 2026 and be responsible for supporting large corporate clients with placement strategy and insurance programme oversight.

Next, Partners& appointed Billy Manley as managing partner for business development in the south.

In his new role, Manley will be responsible for driving growth across the firm’s general insurance business throughout southern England and will report to Howard Jones, managing partner for the south at Partners&.

Finally, specialty (re)insurance MGA Rokstone Underwriting appointed Sam James as head of complex claims to oversee Rokstone’s specialist claims capabilities.

The MGA said the appointment “is the latest in a series of strategic investments as it continues to expand its specialty underwriting platform”.
