Protesters target five insurance offices for connections to Israeli arms manufacturer

Protesters have targeted five UK offices of the insurers Chubb and Sompo over the firms’ connections with Israel-based arms manufacturer Elbit Systems.

The protests – which took place on 9 September 2026 in a “nationwide day of action” across London, Manchester, Glasgow and Maidstone – called for the insurers to rescind their cover of Elbit Systems and its subsidiary UAV Engines in the UK, and of Elbit in the US.

The campaigners, some of whom represented a group calling itself the Palestine Resistance Collective, said they had delivered a letter to Chubb management in Glasgow, while other offices temporarily saw their entranceways blockaded.

One Glasgow protester said they were demanding that “Chubb come clean about the state of their relationship with UAV and Elbit” and that “companies on our high streets act within international law”.

Another in Manchester added that “previous insurers have been forced to cut ties with Elbit Systems following sustained pressure. Chubb will be no different”.

Boycott Bloody Insurance

The protests were also attended by campaign group Boycott Bloody Insurance, an organisation which in recent months has protested insurer Aviva’s cover of migrant detention centres, the industry’s involvement with liquefied natural gas projects and Allianz and Aviva’s connection to Elbit Systems.

At the time, Boycott Bloody Insurance claimed that its activities had led to Allianz and Aviva dropping employee liability insurance of the arms manufacturer, a role it believes has since been filled by Chubb.

Andrew Taylor, member of Boycott Bloody Insurance, said: “Israel relies on Elbit’s weapons and technology and Elbit wouldn’t be able to operate without insurance from Chubb.

“People of conscience all over Britain will continue to reject Chubb’s complicity in war crimes until they see it come to an end.”
