Four men accused of being part of a ghost broking ring appeared at the Old Bailey yesterday.

Andrew Goward, 37, from Nottinghamshire, Gary Heaven, 47, and Mohammed Saleh, 24, both from London, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

All three were charged with entering into a money laundering arrangement from the sales of motor insurance via three companies.

The fourth man, Giovanni Recchia, 46, from Nottinghamshire, was charged with dishonestly trying to profit by getting people to purchase car insurance, which he allegedly knew to be non-existent.

The case forms part of the biggest investigation by the Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) since it launched just over a year ago.

All four men have been released on bail.

The trial continues today.
