The FSA has called on the software industry to the financial services industry switch to electronic regulatory reporting.
The call came as about 30 software suppliers attended a presentation from the FSA's Information Management Department and High Street Firms Division, to explain how electronic reporting will work.
FSA chief operating officer Paul Boyle said the move to electronic reporting would be a "major exercise".
He said the FSA was asking the software industry to set up a small advisory group to help the FSA facilitate the move to electronic reporting.
Boyle added: "We are committed to a continuing dialogue with the software suppliers who will be supporting financial firms in handling electronic reporting."
The FSA set out its intentions to switch to electronic reporting in CP 198, published 11 September 2003.
