The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has released a list of insurers that have declared being in default.

The FCSC said by declaring default, consumers who have lost through dealings with the firm are given the opportunity to make a compensation claim.

The limit for investment compensation is £48,000. The service is free to consumers.

The following insurance firms are in default:

·Purdie and Byron (Leamington) Ltd, formerly trading as Purdie and Byron(Insurance Brokers) Ltd, Leamington Spa
·Prestige Insurance Services Ltd, formerly Prestige Insurance Limited & Prestige (Insurance) Brokers Ltd, Newcastle Upon Tyne
·James Leigh and Raymond Duffy, formerly trading as Red Rose Insurance Services, Leigh
·Raymond McBride, formerly trading as McBride Insurance Agency, Belfast
·Banstead Insurance Services Ltd, formerly Banstead Insurance Brokers Ltd, Banstead
·Trinity Insurance Services (London) Ltd, Hounslow
·HTC Financial Services Ltd, formerly HTC Insurance Services Ltd, Bristol
