Eric Galbraith started this week as chief executive of Biba, as predicted by Insurance Times in September. Galbraith left Hill House Hammond in early September where he was managing director.

Biba chairman Hamish Ritchie said: "Eric was the selection board's unanimous choice for the job.

"He fulfilled the key criteria of someone with considerable experience of the industry, who was well known in both the broking and underwriting field and who is passionately committed to the insurance broking business."

Galbraith joined Marsh, where Hamish Ritchie also works, in 1965 and after 30 years went on to run the Royal Bank of Scotland insurances. He joined Norwich Union three years ago.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
