
Arthur J Gallagher has bought an 85% stake in Swedish specialist insurance and reinsurance broker Brim.
Gallagher said it is extending its investment in Scandinavia as it is an area of strategic development for the company.
Brim was founded in 2001 and provides commercial property/casualty, credit/political risk and affinity insurance products to its international clients and its clients across Sweden, Finland and Norway.
Gallagher International chief executive Grahame Chilton said: “We have a clear strategy at Arthur J Gallagher to bring together leading speciality brokers and expertise within each class and territory of business around the world.”
Brim chief executive Rikard Öijermark added: “Being part of the Gallagher group will open up new avenues and growth for us globally, along with access to a whole new range of products, services and capabilities to offer our clients.”
Gallagher bought the Norwegian marine, energy and specialist insurance broker Bergvall Marine AS in December 2013.
