Leading insurers are funding the world's first Genetics and Insurance Research Centre at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Dr Angus MacDonald, an actuarial specialist and member of the centre, said the move has been supported by a £330,000 grant from insurers including Allied Dunbar, AXA Sun Life, CGU, Norwich Union, Royal & SunAlliance and Prudential.
