Consolidator strengthens Falkirk office with three new hires

Scotland

Giles Insurance Brokers has appointed Ian Smith as branch director as it strengthens its Falkirk office in Scotland.

Smith spent eight years at Gallagher Heath and its acquired subsidiaries where he held various senior management, development and servicing roles across commercial and corporate sectors. He also held similar previous roles at both Willis and Aon. His main role at Giles will be to lead and develop its Falkirk branch office.

Giles regional managing director Alan McEwan said: “I’m delighted we have been able to persuade Ian to join the team. He brings the perfect blend of expertise, professionalism and enthusiastic leadership that we’re looking for as we enhance and expand our business across the region.”

Smith said: “I’m really excited about playing my part in the growth plans and ambition that Giles has, and can’t wait to get stuck in to the huge opportunities that are in front of us.”

Two development executives have also joined the Falkirk branch to expand its sales force. Ian McDiarmid and Andy Boyd both join from Aston Scott, having held previous development roles at NFU, Towergate and Marsh.

McEwan said: “We have a great opportunity to enhance our sales capability and grow the business in central Scotland and we’re developing and attracting the right calibre of ambitious and professional people to help us do that.”
