New operation will go live in July

Giles is set to launch a new health care insurance business in July, Insurance Times understands.

The consolidator has recruited someone from Simplyhealth to set up the operation in Bristol, according to market sources.

Giles acquired Channel Islands broker RA Rossborough Ltd in 2010, taking on its health care business, which it would utilise the expertise of.

“They haven’t got a significant health care business and certainly in terms of the UK they have got a lot of commercial claims so it would be a natural thing to follow the strategy to invest in that and to attract existing clients to it,” said the source.

“It is a highly competitive market both in terms of brokers and direct, but they have got such a great client bank which is going to help.”

Giles declined to comment.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
