A guide to this week's movements in the insurance industry

RK Shipman
RK Shipman has announced two new appointments to its Exeter based practice.

Clive Godfrey joins the firm as commercial manager having spent 40 years in the insurance business most recently as regional director for Country Mutual.

Sean Brown has also joined RK Shipman as an account handler. The former entertainment and media insurance specialist will now deal with commercial insurance.

THB
THB Group has appointed John Preston as director of group operations.

Preston joins from Zurich where he was UK strategic planning director.

He has held various strategic consulting and corporate roles, most recently as an interim manager at a leading international bank.

Preston is responsible for information technology, marketing, communications and change management.

Bennetts
Bennetts has announced the appointments of Tim Halford as senior manager of commercial delivery and Kevin Johns as senior manager of commercial development.

Halford joins from the Budget group of companies, parent company of Bennetts.

In his new role, Halford will ensure there is a right balance of initiatives to drive the brand forward and will be responsible for the delivery of each project to set timescales.

Kevin Johns will be responsible for identifying commercial opportunities and partnerships in order to grow Bennetts' market share.

He was previously a programme manager for the Budget group of companies, where he developed business cases for a number of commercial trading opportunities.

RFIB
Bob Naudi has been appointed as consultant for the RFIB Group, to further develop the company's presence in the Middle East.

Naudi joins RFIB after nearly 40 years at Aon, as a director and consultant.

The move follows RFIB's opening of representative offices at the Dubai International Financial Centre last year.

Brit
Brit Insurance Holdings has appointed John Bryce as onshore energy underwriter.

Bryce has been an onshore oil, gas and petrochemicals property underwriter since 1982, initially with International Oil Insurers whose portfolio was acquired by Swiss Re in 1999. He joins Brit from Swiss Re.


TT Club
TT Club has appointed Laurence Jones to the new position of manager, risk assessment.

Jones will work with TT Club offices and client sites worldwide to manage third-party risk assessment surveys.

He will also work with members to identify areas where risk profiles can be improved and provide support in underwriting decisions and claims assessment.

Jones joins TT Club from P&O Ports, where he was general manager of global engineering and asset management. He will based in Sydney, Australia.

Legal

Weightmans
Laurence Sheppard has been made a partner at Weightmans.

He will be responsible for helping to strengthen the company's construction capability.

He joins from Winckworth Sherwood where he was a partner and head of construction.

Sheppard has gained substantial dispute resolution experience in both private practice, in the City, and in house, with Taylor Woodrow. He specialises in contentious and non-contentious construction.

Other

Argent
Argent has recruited Dave Nolan to its technical claims team, where he will help develop the team's London market connections in conjunction with directors Tony Wadey and Erica Lindley.

Nolan joins Argent from GAB Robins where he was technical manager in the liability division, responsible for the company's Romford operation.

MYI
MYI has appointed Paul Ritchie to lead the newly-launched realty division.

He joins MYI in March as executive director (Realty) and part of the new executive team. Ritchie is currently property owners director at GAB Robins.

R3: Group
The R3: Group has appointed Jason Lawrence as head of business development.

Lawrence will be responsible for identifying, researching and analysing new acquisitions, the establishment of strategic partnerships and bringing new products to the marketplace.

Lawrence has over 15 years senior management experience with the Admiral Group and Insure and Go.
