George has worked at Smart and Cook for nine years.

Heath Lambert National has formed a Yorkshire business unit to build on the local relationships of the company's offices in Hull, Leeds and Sheffield.

Nick Pay, based in the Leeds office, will head the unit's management team.

Paul Sleight has also been appointed as head of office in Hull, leading the drive to develop the business locally and as part of the new unit.

Miller has appointed Rob Collecott from Price Forbes as energy director.

Ace European Group has appointed Clare Ryalls as package underwriter in its Manchester branch.

Alasdair MacKay joins Ace from St Paul Travelers as casualty underwriter in Glasgow.

Intech Solutions has appointed Gary Hurley as sales executive responsible for developing the network and integration channel.

Coface has appointed Walter Kee as commercial manager for Ireland.

Kee will join the firm in June from Atradius, where he has worked for over a decade as manager for Ireland (commercial).

Julian Rhode
NIG has appointed Julian Rhodes as regional manager of its London City office.

Rhodes will be responsible for achieving profitable development of NIG's commercial business in the regions, as part of the firm's strategy to build local expertise in this area and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the broker channel.

Rhodes has 25 years' industry experience and is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Insurer.

He has held management roles at AXA, Towergate Underwriting Group and most recently AIG Europe, where he was business development manager.

Rhodes said: "I am very pleased to be joining NIG at an exciting stage in the development of the business. NIG is able to tap into the resources available from the RBS group and is set to achieve its ambition of being a top-three SME insurer".

Rhodes lives with wife Debbie, three children and two step-children in North Hertfordshire. His interests include music, golf, travelling and fine wine.
