Jardine Lloyd ThompsonJardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT) has appointed Paul Williams as northern sales director. Williams has 17 years' industry experience. He will be joining JLT from Heath Lambert, where he was regional director in charge of building and developing major accounts in the North. Prior to that, he was vice president of one of the AIG international divisions for five years, three of which were spent in New York looking after 27 global markets.Williams will join JLT on 24 November and will be based in its newly-opened Leeds office. He will succeed Ian Scott as regional sales director. Scott was promoted on the opening of the Leeds office to regional managing director.

The Folgate PartnershipThe Folgate Partnership has appointed Lawrence O'Keeffe as product development manager.O'Keeffe has more than 30 years of underwriting, sales and marketing experience in the industry, gained both in the UK and international markets. Most recently he was commercial business development manager for a provincial broker.He has been recruited to oversee development of Folgate's "best of breed" range of branded commercial, personal lines and risk management products for Folgate's own brokers, Masterplan, and the Folgate Underwriting Agency.

BJP Insurance BrokersBJP Insurance Brokers has appointed Ian Holmes as company accountant at its Wokingham office.Holmes has 20 years' experience in a variety of industries, and joins the existing management team.Cliff Browne has joined Focus Underwriting - BJP's underwriting agency - as manager of the Wokingham office. Browne previously worked for National Vulcan Engineering and Royal &SunAlliance, latterly as branch manager, Southampton.Don Clark has also joined Focus as business development manager, following a sales career with Eagle Star and Zurich.

RFIB GroupRFIB Group, an international Lloyd's insurance and reinsurance broker, has appointed Chris Bracegirdle and Claire Barker to RFIB Marine. They both join from Willis Marine.Bracegirdle is currently a director of Willis Marine and his principal responsibilities include eastern European business in the cargo department. He has been with Willis for 14 years. Barker will also join RFIB from the cargo department of Willis Marine.

JSW Insurance ServicesJSW Insurance Services has appointed three new members to its senior management team.Robert Tomlinson is appointed personal lines officer. Tomlinson was previously general manager at Insure Shop. Prior to that he was chairman and managing director of Tomlinson Insurance Group, a Midland-based broking chain.Michael Whitfield has joined JSW as development officer. Whitfield was previously managing director of Brokersure.co.uk.Richard Dean has joined as insurer relationship officer. Dean was previously agency manager at Brokersure.co.uk, agency director at Argent Insurance Group, and chairman and managing director at Autoplus Insurance Brokers.

Priestleys Ian Papworth has joined Cheshire-based broker Priestleys as claims manager.Papworth was previously divisional director at GAB Robins (Manchester). He will handle all claims issues in his new appointment at Priestleys.

Cooper GayThe Cooper Gay Group has appointed Dermot Flood as director within its non-marine treaty team. Flood will spearhead the company's drive to grow its London market and international treaty business. He has 25 years' London market experience.He joins Cooper Gay from AJ Gallagher UK, where he worked within the non-marine London market division.

BHSF GroupNational health insurer The Health Scheme from BHSF has appointed Graeme Lewis as regional manager, north.Based in Glasgow, Lewis's role will be to manage affairs and support the team of area-based account executives in Scotland, the North Midlands and north of England, and the whole of Ireland.He has spent the past three years with employee benefits specialist Momentum in Edinburgh. Prior to that he worked for HSA for 12 years, where he became the regional manager.

FirstAssistFirstAssist has appointed Paul Atkinson as its new group personal accident and travel manager. Prior to joining FirstAssist, Atkinson held various roles at Sun Alliance, AIG and Danish insurer Tryg Baltica International. He has 19 years' industry experience, focusing on the personal accident and travel sectors.

BritPeter Webster has been appointed as a non-executive director on the boards of underwriting operations Brit Insurance Ltd and Brit Syndicates Ltd.Webster held a number of positions with Sun Alliance throughout the UK until he moved to head office in 1987 as commercial marketing manager. In 1992 he was promoted to director responsible for commercial lines for the regions. Following the merger with the Royal, he took on responsibility for the group's businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean. In 2002, Webster returned to London to take on the role of managing director of UK commercial lines, where he remained until he retired in 2004.

MMA InsuranceIntermediary-only insurer MMA Insurance has appointed Colin Morris in the newly-created role of head of actuarial. Morris joins MMA after several years experience at Lloyds TSB and NPI.

AspenAspen Insurance UK has appointed Kevin Golson as a marine hull underwriter.Golson has more than 25 years' experience in the marine market, focusing on complex risks. He began his career writing marine insurance with Commercial Union Group and, before joining Aspen, was head of the specialised hull team at Berkshire Hathaway.

Davis UnderwritingDavis Underwriting has appointed Paul Brown as underwriting manager. Brown will be responsible for developing the CargoRiSK products and the marine transit wholesale business, working closely with Anthony Lees, director of underwriting.Brown has previously worked with Norwich Union London Marine Centre as branch marine underwriter and also as a general manager for a London brokerage.

Tribunals Service Peter Handcock has been appointed as chief executive designate of the Tribunals Service. The appointment, made by Lord Falconer, the secretary of state for constitutional affairs, is part of a series of reforms to tribunals and the wider administrative justice system.Handcock, currently principal adviser to Falconer on criminal justice and the Department for Constitutional Affairs' delivery director, is expected to take up his post before the end of the year.

The FSAThe FSA has appointed two new directors. Thomas Huertas, currently managing director of Citigroup Global Transaction Services, joins as director of the wholesale firms division. Huertas will be responsible for the supervision of firms operating in the wholesale insurance, banking, investment banking and fund management sectors.Graeme Ashley-Fenn, currently programme director for Pitney Bowes (Europe, Africa & Middle East), joins as director of contact, revenue and information management. He will be responsible for managing the FSA's contact centres for firms and consumers, collecting fee revenue from the industry and receiving and processing firms' statistical and other returns.Huertas takes up his appointment in November and Ashley-Fenn takes up his appointment in October.

Fleet Accident Repair GroupJohn Virando has joined the Fleet Accident Repair Group (FARG) senior management team as general commercial manager.Virando joins FARG having spent six years working as business development manager, motor manufacturers and work providers for Brown Brothers, a division of Unipart.His main role within FARG will involve managing the insurer-referred business that the company is handling. In addition, he will be assuming full responsibility for repairer network activity and control.

Lorega Claims and underwriting services specialist Lorega has appointed Andrew Kilgour as business development manager for London. Kilgour will be responsible for the development and servicing of broker relationships in the London market and within the boundaries of the M25. Kilgour joins Lorega from The St Paul at Lloyd's, where he spent five years, initially as a broker development consultant and latterly as creditor underwriter. He previously worked for Eagle Star, where he became sales manager for part of the insurer's Southern region. He started his insurance career in 1987 when he joined a broker in Norwich.

FSCSThe Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) has appointed Loretta Minghella as chief executive.Minghella is currently the head of enforcement law, policy and international cooperation at the FSA. She trained as a solicitor in the 1980s and has a background in law, regulation and consumer protection.In 1990 she joined the legal division of the Securities and Investments Board, where she set up its enforcement law and policy support function, which she managed until the FSA took shape in 1998 and she moved to her current role.She will take up her new position with the FSCS in December.
