Countrywide Insurance Marketing
Countrywide Insurance Marketing has appointed John Dawson as its new partnerships support manager. Dawson, previously personal lines product manager, will head the new partnership support team.


Independent Insurance
Independent Insurance has made a number of sales promotions at three of its offices.
Neil Peters, who has been with Independent for five years, has been promoted from senior sales inspector to area sales manager at the St Albans office. Neal Lumb is the new trainee sales inspector in Birmingham, David Garrard has taken the same position at the St Albans office and Paul Brookbanks is the trainee at the Manchester office. All three joined Independent recently as sales assistants and are ACII qualified or close to achieving their qualifications.


St Paul International Insurance
St Paul International Insurance has appointed Robin Hobson as its regional underwriter for the north-west of England. Hobson previously worked with Iron Trades.


Cigna Healthcare & Group Life
Cigna Healthcare & Group Life has appointed Dave Priestly as its new corporate medical sales manager.Priestly has been with Cigna for two years as a sales consultant. Cigna has also appointed Malcolm Wright as international sales consultant. He has joined Cigna from Bupa International and previously spent seven years managing American Express corporate card and card travel services in the US.

Thompson Heath & Bond
Thompson Heath & Bond has made two new appointments.
Alison Philips has joined the company as a development executive at the Newcastle office and Nicola Brady has been chosen to head the personal lines department in Leeds.


Peoples Choice
Direct telebroker Peoples Choice has promoted Dave O'Brien to internal auditor, based at its Manchester call centre. O'Brien has spent the past 18 years in the insurance industry, with stints at AAIS, Safe Guard and AGF.


The Bollington Group
The Bollington Group has appointed Paul Varetto as its new group administrator.
He has been with Bollington for two years, previously in the personnel department.


Inter-Alliance Group
Inter-Alliance Group has appointed Michael Williamson as group finance director, following the resignation of David Crisp. Williamson has previously been a director at SmithKline Beecham, Rhone Poulenc Rorer, Argyll Consultancies and most recently at MFI Furniture Group. Crisp will remain as finance director of Inter-Alliance.

Elliotts Solicitors
Elliotts Solicitors have promoted three of its solicitors, creating a new partner and two new associates.
Ted Sheils has become a partner in the Manchester firm and Anthony Baker and Emerson Wallwork are now associates. All three solicitors specialise in defendant insurer litigation.

Imhotep Consultancy
Organisation change management specialists Imhotep Consultancy has appointed Paul Harborne as an advisor. Harborne previously worked with BT on the implementation of its Y2K programme. At Imhotep he will advise clients on leadership styles and apply research to the convergence of technology and product development.


KPMG
KPMG's information risk management practice has three new appointments within its financial services area. Robert Coles has become a partner, with responsibility for information security services.
Michael Sobers has also become a partner, with responsibility for financial sector information risk practice management. Mark Osborne has been appointed director of security engineering.

Property & Casualty Services makes two appointments. David Pugh is appointed IT Manager, based
at PCS Cheadle. Gary Westford is appointed Associate Technical Director, based in London.


Other

Institute of Actuaries
Institute of Actuaries president Peter Clark has been elected chairman of a body representing actuarial associations throughout Europe. Clark was chosen as chairman of the Groupe Consultatif des Associations d'Actuaires des Pays des Communautés Européennes, which was established in 1978 and represents 31 actuarial associations in 26 countries, including new members Croatia and Hungary.
He will serve a one-year term.


Haywra Selection
Haywra Selection's new managing director Ian Allmark will continue the growth and development of the specialist insurance recruitment consultancy. Allmark has previously worked in the life and pensions industry and retail stockbroking and has run his own business, supplying sales training to the financial services industry.


Punter Southall
Occupational pensions specialists Punter Southall has appointed Andrew Scott as principal to head the firm's expanding Edinburgh office. Scott had worked for Hymans Robertson's Independent Trustee Services, which was acquired by Punter Southall as part of its expansion.


Docucorp Europe
Docucorp Europe has appointed Jeff Eagleton as its new European head of operations, with responsibility for professional services and information technology. Eagleton has moved from Anix Computers, where he was responsible for the implementation of a card key security
access system.
