A guide to this week’s movements in the insurance industry

Broker

Lockton

Lockton has appointed Steve Burridge, Mike Goudime and Hubert Seifert to its London team.

Burridge and Goudime join as directors, while Seifert joins as an account executive.

Burridge joins Lockton from Ace European Group where he was business development director.

Prior to this he worked at Marsh. At Lockton, he will be responsible for business growth and retention of clients within the major accounts practice.

Goudime’s previous positions have been at Marsh, in the major client sector, where he held a variety of roles including account technician and sales leader.

Seifert joins Lockton from Marsh where he was senior vice president.

At Lockton, Seifert will be responsible for handling large complex multinational accounts and helping to coordinate and develop risk management opportunities.

Bennetts

Bennetts has appointed Vanessa Gait as finance manager.

Gait joins Bennetts from IP Access in Cambridge, where she has been assistant account-ant for the past five years.

Insurer

Arista

Arista has appointed James Sawkins as senior underwriter. Claire McCallum and Esther Lavender-Jones have also been appointed as underwriters.

Based at Redhill, Sawkins will be responsible for overseeing the underwriting practices of the team and ensuring a high level of service for brokers.

McCallum is also based at the Redhill office. She previously worked as an account handler at Goss & Co and as a senior underwriter for Royal & SunAlliance.

Lavender-Jones joins from Mount Guard Insurance & Financial Consultants.

She has 18 years’ experience in insurance and will help Arista develop specific relationships in the South West.

Markel

Markel International has announced the promotion of two members of its delegated authority property team.

Michael James has been promoted to the position of senior underwriter, delegated property and Gareth Buxton has been promoted to senior underwriter, delegated liability.

In their new roles, James and Buxton will be working closely together to manage Markel’s delegated binder book, which includes both property and liability elements on an international basis.

Legal

Simpson & Marwick

Graeme Watson, an associate in Simpson & Marwick’s Edinburgh office, has become the fifth solicitor advocate within the firm.

He joins partners Peter Anderson, Paul Wade, Alan Cowan and Ranald Macpherson.

Watson is the only associate within the firm to qualify as a solicitor advocate.

He has considerable experience of personal injury litigation, with particular emphasis on disease actions including occupational stress, historic child abuse and asbestos claims.

Cunningham Lindsay

Cunningham Lindsey has added two members to its complex loss team in Manchester.

Mike Dawson joins from Garwyns. He is a construction liability specialist with over 30 years’ experience as a quantity surveyor, property, CAR and liability adjuster.

Gemma Green joins as a complex loss technician.

She has extensive experience and knowledge of property liability claims.

Green joins from AXA Insurance.

Broker Network

Broker Network has appointed Paul Hughes as sales manager for the South East.

Hughes has more than 20 years’ experience in finance and IT, largely in banking, IFA and IT service management.

He previously spent over two years working for Fleet

Insurance Solutions as business development manager.

Nick Meikle and Adam Furniss have also been internally promoted to the new roles of trainee sales managers, and Matt Clatworthy has been promoted to senior sales manager for the South West.

Kelly-Ann Knight has been appointed as head of PR, communications and investor relations at Broker Network.

Knight previously worked for Matrix Corporate Finance and Buchanan Commun-ications.

She will head up a new communications division, based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Talent & Pro

Talent & Pro has appointed Daisy French to provide interim resource facilities within the insurance and banking sectors.

French has recently completed a BSc Chemistry at the University of Bristol.

She will be based in London.

Mi

Mi has appointed Hameed Alkhersan as business development manager

Alkhersan joins from Open GI, where he was account manager for London and the South East.
