Goshawk has warned that its half-year results will show a small dollar loss at the pre-tax level as a result of higher than expected losses on Hurricane Ivan.

The company said it also incurred losses on winter cyclone Erwin and the Suncor plant in Canada during the six-month period to June 2005.

Goshawk said that it expects to report a reduced but "acceptable" result for the full year, assuming catastrophe activity in the second half of 2005 is within
normal provisions.

The insurer will announce its interim results on 15 September.
