Risk management expert Dr Alan Waring is returning to his independent consulting business after several years in senior consulting positions in corporate risk management.
Waring, previously a senior consultant within the corporate risks division of Willis UK, will continue to carry out selected assignments for the broker giant.
But he also intends to re-establish his consultancy, Dr Alan Waring & Associates, with a hand-picked team of some 30 associates including MBAs, chartered engineers, chartered psychologists and health and safety specialists.
"Part of my decision is to enable more contact with clients rather than the more administrative role which large corporate companies demand," said Waring.
"But it is also a good opportunity because of the growth in risk management following the Turnbull Report."
Included in the company's client base are banks, finance, insurance, oil, gas and petrochemicals, defence, telecommunications, railways, retail chains and the public sector.
The AWA team is able to draw on significant business risk and corporate governance consulting experience pre and post Turnbull.
Other areas of speciality include cultural analysis, management of change, management systems, health and safety, major hazards, HR risks, environment, project risks and territorial risks.
AWA operates worldwide and associates are located throughout the UK, Australia and the Middle East.
Alan Waring is co-author with Dr Ian Glendon of Managing Risk: critical issues for survival and success into the 21st century.
