Halifax General Insurance has become the first household insurance provider to have its competency and training programme formally accredited under the General Insurance Standards Council (GISC) Private Customer Code.

The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), on behalf of the GISC, has approved Halifax's programme for its building and contents insurance business.

The training of new recruits is carried out over a two-month period. It has to be completed before recruits begin to work with customers.

Under the GISC, all companies within the general insurance industry must ensure that employees are trained and competent to carry out their general insurance duties.

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
Many congratulations to all the worthy winners and as always, huge thanks to our sponsors for their support and our judges for their expertise.
