I read Christine Seib's piece with interest (Comment, 28 July). Ms Seib discussed payment protection insurance, sometimes referred to informally as income protection, or mortgage payment protection insurance.
Income protection 'proper' (formerly permanent health insurance) is a very different product from those listed above and is far more wide-ranging.
Most members of the public will either not have heard of income protection, or will confuse it with other more restrictive products.
Dentists' & General has specialised in income protection for almost 80 years.
But, as its product has an investment return, many insurance brokers (as opposed to IFAs) may not yet have authority to recommend it.
