Big is not necessarily beautiful, according to Tim Merrison, the creator of Insurer 2000, a new system for the insurance market.

Merrison, who is the founder of company Merrison Systems, is working on his own to promote the package to small-to-medium–sized insurers.

He said: “I think there are a lot of insurance companies that either don't have a system in place, or have an old and rickety system. Very rarely are companies using systems in an integrated and comprehensive way.”

Insurer 2000 can handle quotations. It also features a full back office operation plus underwriting analysis modules. Merrison is currently developing a quotation engine for the system that would allow customers to buy online.
