IT Direct at Lloyd's has appointed software provider Phoenix Software as its specialist software and volume licensing advisor and supplier.

IT Direct is the unique channel to market for hardware, software and services suppliers to the Lloyd's market. It has a similar service agreement with the Baltic Exchange.

Phoenix Software supplies approximately one million software licences every year to customers including local government, central government, and the corporate sector.

The companies said in a statement that apart from the Lloyd's Corporation itself, the agreement encompassed around 500 Lloyd's market and affiliated companies and 700 Baltic Exchange organisations.

This means the total customer base exceeds 80,000 seats.

Partnership manager for IT Direct at Lloyd's Mike Flatman said: "Our model enables all Lloyd's and Baltic Exchange companies to benefit from economy of scale purchase prices - resulting not only in reduced costs, but increased business efficiency through streamlined routes to market."
