James Hallam has appointed Howard Fryer as City and mid-market director.

The role will focus on James Hallam’s existing and prospective larger clients, which the broker has identified as key areas for its growth.

Fryer’s previous roles include Bluefin head of corporate. He left the broker in February 2014.

Prior to that, he was chief executive of broker SBJ UK, which was bought by AXA in 2008 and integrated into the insurer’s broking division Venture Preference - later rebranded as Bluefin.

James Hallam managing director Paul Anscombe said: “We are delighted to bring Howard on board given his considerable experience in broking and his reputation in the market.

“We see a significant opportunity for brokers of our size in the mid-market sector where clients seek quality advisers and staff continuity. We are making a big push for growth with larger clients and this will be supported by our risk management sister company 4Sight Risk Management.”
