Equitable Life has vowed to continue in its fight...

Equitable Life has vowed to continue its ongoing fight against its former directors and auditors despite criticism from the judge hearing the case, reports have said.

Mr Justice Langley said he deemed Equitable's arguments to be "odd" and called an argument by Ian Milligan QC, acting for Equitable, "somewhat unimpressive".

On Monday, Equitable dropped its claim for £1.3bn compensation for a lost sale that it was claimed would have been made had the directors been warned by Ernst & Young (E&Y) that their liabilities were at least £1bn higher than it was thought at the time.

Yesterday, The judge asked Milligan to clarify the argument and what targets were still seriously being aimed at.

"I would have thought it would be helpful to everybody to know the answer to that," he added.
