Ex-CII head returns to market with insurer MMA

MMA has appointed former Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) director Peter Knowles as head of UK development.

Knowles will be responsible for developing broker relations, overseeing the business development team.

Chief executive Garry Fearn said: “Peter is a prominent figure in the insurance market and has had a successful 22 year career in the industry. He brings with him a wealth of relevant experience to this new position."

He added: “The head of UK development position is fundamental to MMA’s continued growth and development and is a key factor in our commercial lines development plans.”

Knowles was previously market director for general insurance at the CII. He also worked for Polaris and Norwich Union (now Aviva).

The 2025 Insurance Times Awards took place on the evening of Wednesday 3rd December in the iconic Great Room of London’s Grosvenor House.

Hosted by comedian and actor Tom Allen, 34 Gold, 23 Silver and 22 Bronze awards were handed out across an amazing 34 categories recognising brilliance and innovation right across the breadth of UK general insurance.
